“Liam is about a year and half old and is such a sweetheart. He has a heart of gold and loves prancing around with his red stuffed bird toy. At first he is a shy guy- he wants to trust somebody before getting too familiar with them, but once he understands you, you’re guaranteed a friend for life. Joey- Pet of the Week (12/9 through 12/15)
“Joey is a 2 year old male brown tabby with lots of love to give. He was rescued back in August from a local county shelter. On the ride from the shelter to VHS, he jumped out of his kennel and rode shotgun with the driver, enjoying the scenery outside. Recently, he had an accident at VHS where he broke his leg. We had hoped we could fix it with a pin, but unfortunately the damage was too severe and his leg was amputated. Joey gets along just fine with three legs. His big heart makes up for the loss of the limb! “Tyra is described as “the perfect dog”- sweet, loving and loyal. She enjoys squeaky toys and playing catch. Tyra enjoys car rides and short walks. She spent the majority of her life with another dog and has no issues with cats; although she needs a home with children over the age of 10. She loves to cuddle all of the time and is a wonderful companion, who LOVES to be with people. She has been in and out of different homes since her owners passed away in Spring of 2012 and she is ready to move into a permanent forever home with a new family. Black Cat Friday 2012
Adoptions
Today marked our second annual Black Cat Friday event. It was a thrilling day where dozens of community members came to visit our animals and where 12 cats found their forever homes. When our doors unlocked at noon, there was a line waiting outside. Some folks knew exactly who they wanted and went straight to that cat, while others spent the day with us, assuring they made the right decision.
Our goal of the event was to find homes for black or mostly black cats and also some kitties who really needed to get out of the shelter. Cats (older than 8 months) who had been at the shelter longer than 6 months were only $49.99, kittens (2-8 months old) who had been at the shelter longer than 6 months were $99.99, and cats (older than 8 months) who had been rescued and brought to our shelter within the last 3 months were $124.99.
Overall, it was a wonderful event and we look forward to next year.
